White Fillings

How good are white fillings?

Today high quality white filling materials can be used to re-create the natural appearance of teeth. Therefore when you talk laugh or smile they cannot be seen and so you will have complete confidence when you engage with other people. The white filling materials used at 32Whites bond or stick to natural teeth so they can be used to repair decayed chipped or broken teeth.

White filling can be created in a variety of shades that closely match your own teeth. So you no longer need to have silver fillings.

What does having a white filling involve?

The treatment is usually carried under a local anaesthetic in order to numb the area around the tooth. Old filling material and any decay is removed if necessary before the new white filling is placed. Bonding agents are lightly brushed onto the teeth being treated and the filling material is placed carefully in small amounts until the original tooth shape is re-created. The filling material is set or hardened by shining a small ultra violet or bright light onto it for a few seconds. At the final stage of the treatment, the new filling is finely polished.

What are the benefits of white fillings?

White fillings come in a range of shades, so we can match the colour and characteristics to your natural teeth as closely as possible. White fillings can also be used to reshape and rebuild teeth that are broken or have been worn down, due to the adhesive nature of the materials that are used. In general a tooth that is going to have a white filling requires less preparation when compared to an silver or amalgam filling.
