Hypnosis
Imagine undergoing a root canal filling or tooth extraction without feeling anything.
Perhaps you just want to feel more comfortable when sitting in the dentis's chair without the fear of needles or being in the dentist's chair?
Hypnosis has been used for many years for this and much more. It has been used alongside or instead of anaesthetic and has no side effects whatsoever.
There are many other beneficial uses for hypnosis in dentistry including controlling the gag reflex, treating pain and reducing swelling. Hypnosis can also make life easier for the dentist because a patient who is relaxed and feels at ease during their visit will be even easier to work with.
All this and more is possible using hypnosis.
So why is hypnosis not more commonly used in dentistry?
The common misconception is that it takes 10-20 minutes to hypnotise somebody.
The reality is different. Most people should take no more than 2 minutes to enter hypnosis and if this were more well known, hypnosis and its numerous benefits could become available to all dentists and their patients.
